When a young reporter went viral for squealing her way through \u201clive coverage\u201d on a rocking boat during floods, many thought BBC Urdu <\/i>had found its quirkiest new correspondent.<\/p>\n
But as it turns out, Mehrunnisa wasn\u2019t holding a mic for the British Broadcasting Corporation at all \u2014 she was on duty for something entirely different: Bhai Bhai Channel.<\/p>\n
Multiple rivers in Punjab, including Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab are witnessing increased water flow due to torrential rains coupled with the water discharge from India, killing at least 30 people. <\/p>\n
Amid this devastation, social media users in Pakistan found a lighthearted moment in reporting of Mehrunnisa. It all started when the “BBC Urdu News Punjab TV” reporter was covering the Punjab floods from a rocking boat. <\/p>\n
She kicked off her report with all the seriousness: \u201cAs you can see, the water pressure is rising.\u201d But within seconds, the character broke, giving way to an unfiltered squeal: \u201cBohat dar lag raha hai, kabhi yeh iss side hoti hai kabhi uss \u2014 balance nahin ho raha humse<\/i>\u00a0(We\u2019re terrified, the boat keeps tipping from one side to another, we can\u2019t balance).”<\/p>\n
And then came the sign-off that sealed her viral fame: \u201cBas aap hamare liye dua karein<\/i>, guys\u201d (Just pray for us, guys).<\/p>\n
During this what some social media users say “cute reporting”, some identified the logo on her mic \u2014 which stated: “BBC Urdu<\/i>” \u2014 resembling with an international media outlet’s one. However, this wasn’t the case. <\/p>\n
After the video went viral, the BBC Urdu<\/i> issued a statement to clear the air. “It has come to our attention that a digital media company called BBC Urdu News Punjab TV is operating in Pakistan while using the BBC\u2019s <\/i>name,” it stated. <\/p>\n
“The BBC <\/i>has no connection whatsoever with this organisation or its reporters, nor has it authorised the use of its name in this manner,” it said, distancing itself from the digital platform and the reporter.<\/p>\n
The British broadcaster warned audiences to beware of impostors and requesting to “first verify the presence of any content published under the BBC\u2019s <\/i>name on the BBC\u2019s <\/i>official platforms.”<\/p>\n
As expected, Mehrunnisa \u2014 now a viral sensation \u2014 didn\u2019t back down and offered her own clarification. <\/p>\n
\u201cPeople say we copied BBC<\/i>, but we didn\u2019t. Their BBC <\/i>stands for British Broadcasting Corporation, and our BBC <\/i>stands for\u2026 Bhai Bhai Channel.\u201d She squealed, she panicked, and she signed off proudly.\u00a0<\/p>\n‘Bhai Bhai Channel’ shuts down over BBC strike<\/h2>\n
Viral reporter Mehrunnisa has revealed that the British Broadcasting Corporation has struck down her social media platforms \u2013 YouTube and TikTok \u2013 by filing a copyrights complaint to the social media companies. <\/p>\n
Speaking to Geo News<\/i>, she said that her social media platforms have been shut down over copyrights complaints by the BBC<\/i>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After her channels were shut down, Mehrunnisa appealed to the BBC <\/i>to take back the strikes. She appealed: \u201cIt\u2019s my appeal to the BBC <\/i>to take back the strikes issued on my channels on youtube and TikTok.” <\/p>\n
“Our accounts have been shut down over a copyright strike. We are a small, Lahore based channel. We have worked hard on it. We have no competition with you. Please restore us,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
