{"id":2942,"date":"2024-10-01T06:04:12","date_gmt":"2024-10-01T06:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/d9news.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/01\/massive-lahore-sinkhole-swallows-three-vehicles\/"},"modified":"2024-10-01T06:04:12","modified_gmt":"2024-10-01T06:04:12","slug":"massive-lahore-sinkhole-swallows-three-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/d9news.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/01\/massive-lahore-sinkhole-swallows-three-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Massive Lahore sinkhole swallows three vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><b style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">Car, two motorcycles pulled into sinkhole in Johar Town.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">Locals use ladder to rescue commuters trapped inside sinkhole.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">Hole in ground resulted from underground leakage of sewer line.<br \/><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"editorHr\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"color: inherit;\">LAHORE: Three vehicles on Monday fell into a massive sinkhole that suddenly appeared on a main road in Johar Town, creating significant traffic disruptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: inherit;\">A car and two motorcycles were pulled into the sinkhole, prompting locals to come to the rescue of commuters trapped inside the massive hole in the ground with the help of a ladder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a video of the incident, showing locals helping the trapped commuters, also made rounds on social media.<\/p>\n<p>A sinkhole is a depression in the ground that has no natural external surface drainage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to officials at the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the huge hole in the ground in Johar Town was the result of an underground leakage of a sewer line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In response, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore ordered a diversion from Main Boulevard Johar Town, leading to increased traffic load.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, a traffic response unit was also deployed and relevant departments were informed of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past three years, large cracks have appeared on roads in several areas in Lahore, including Gawalmandi, Samanabad, Muslim Town, Ichhra, and Shadbagh, especially during the monsoon season.<\/p>\n<p>However, the majority of these cracks appear in Johar Town.<\/p>\n<p>The latest sinkhole that opened up in the area on Monday marked the fourth crater that appeared on the same road in several months.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, a massive sinkhole in Johar Town pulled in a vehicle carrying a woman and her child, both of whom were injured.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, as record-breaking rain hit Lahore in August,\u00a0it also created sinkholes on roads, including Khayaban-i-Firdausi in Johar Town, where an old trunk sewer ruptured due to extraordinary flow and drainage of rainwater.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geo.tv\/latest\/566765-watch-massive-lahore-sinkhole-swallows-three-vehicles\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Car, two motorcycles pulled into sinkhole in Johar Town.
